- Compile a list of things that you do from midnight to midnight (12am to 12am).
- Estimate what fraction of the day you spend on each activity.
- Add your fractions that you have estimated together to find out if you have a whole day. If you have estimated correctly the fractions should add to one. If you have estimated wrong you will have less than or more than one. EXTENSION - Plan out a great day: Think of all the activities that you would love to do in a day and the fraction of the day that you would spend doing them.
DURING THE WEEK -Students will be asked to go into the playground and take a photo of a fraction of something. They bring the photos back into the classroom and the class try to guess what the fraction is and what the whole is. eg. you might take a picture of HALF of the OVAL.

Fraction jigsaw
You will need to download and print out this jigsaw (or draw the pieces on squared paper), and cut up the pieces into squares (don't cut along the diagonal lines!)
Now try to put the square pieces together without rotating any of them (so that in the finished jigsaw all the numbers are the right way up).
Two pieces may only go next to each other if the edges that touch contain fractions that are equivalent.
